Empress Crowns in India - Pros and Cons

If you are in need of empress crowns, then you may be exploring more affordable options than are available in your home country. One such solution is to get empress crowns in India. But if you choose to go to India for your dental treatment, what should you expect? Like with any dental tourism destination, there are pros and cons associated with traveling to India for empress crowns.

Pro - Getting empress crowns in India will be much more affordable.
Even after you include the cost of travel to and from India, it is likely that you will save a large portion of money in comparison to the cost quoted by a dentist in the United States, Australia or elsewhere.

Con - You will have to fly to India.
If you are flying from the Middle East, the duration of flight to most cities in India will be around 2-5 hours. From Australia, the UK, or the United States it will be considerably longer. For some people, the long travel hours can be off-putting.

Pro - There are many great dentists in India who can give you empress crowns.
No matter if you get empress crowns in New Delhi, Chandigarh, Mumbai or elsewhere in India, you will find a well-trained dentist who will do a great job. There are many dentists working in India that were educated in top dental schools in the world.

Con - It may be hard to find out which dentists are good and which are not.
Of course there are many great dentists in India, but the country also has its share of quacks and fakes. As you look into planning a trip to India for dental crowns, you may find that deciphering between the good and the bad may be difficult, especially as a foreigner. However, you can do ample amounts of research about the dentist and the dental clinic you plan to visit prior to your dental trip to India. This will help you choose the right dentist to give you empress crowns in India.

Pro - There are many cities in India where you can get dental work done.
If you decide to go to India to get empress crowns, you will quickly find that there are many different cities within the country that can fulfill your needs. By taking into consideration things like accessibility of the city, weather, and tourist attractions you can find a place suitable for you to get your dental treatment. If you want to visit the Taj Mahal in Agra you may want to consider getting your empress crowns in New Delhi; Agra is only a couple of hours away from the national capital. If you find the beaches of Goa more alluring, then you might find Mumbai or Bangalore a more suitable option for your treatment.

Con - You probably won’t get to meet your dentist prior to the procedure.
Many people like to meet their dentist once before getting empress crowns. If you travel to India for empress crowns, it is unlikely you will have the chance to meet your dentist prior to the procedure. You can, however, contact the dentist before your trip to India.

ACL Repair – All You Need to Know

This article is a compendium of essential information for ACL tear patients, such as - What is an ACL tear? Do you really need surgical intervention as the only treatment for ACL tear? Is ACL repair in Tijuana, Mexico, a good option for American patients who’re considering medical tourism to save bucks? And a lot more…

A Zoom-in on ACL

Anterior cruciate ligament is one of four ligaments that connect tibia or the shin bone with the femur or the thigh bone. A ligament connects a bone with a bone while a tendon connects a muscle with bone. As the word anterior suggests, it is placed on the front, right behind the knee cap, and prevents the shin bone from jutting ahead of the thigh bone.

What Causes ACL to Tear?

70% of the ACL cases are non-contact, for example, a wrong landing from a jump may cause ACL to tear. The rest 30% result from a collision with an external object. The incidence of ACL injuries is higher in women with active lifestyles. Mostly a sports injury, ACL is pretty common in basketball and football. Here’s a list of some NBA players whose careers were threatened by ACL tear:
1.       Al Harrington – Orlando Magic
2.      Al Jefferson – Utah Jazz
3.      David West – Indiana Pacers
4.      Kyle Lowry – Toronto Raptors
5.      Derrick Rose – Chicago Bulls
Why are ACL injuries so common among sportsmen? Because leaping, sidestepping, and cutting weren’t our evolutionary learnings. Leaping, cutting, and sidestepping are as new to us as the game of basketball itself.

Who might need ACL Surgery?

Not all ACL tear cases require ACL repair surgery. Rehabilitation, as Swedish researchers have found out, may do away the need for a surgery. In a study involving 121 patients divided into two groups—with one group undergoing rehabilitation followed shortly by surgery and the other group undergoing the rehabilitation alone—researchers found that only 40% of the patients in the “rehab only” group needed ACL surgery after 2 years.
“There are almost 10,000 scientific publications addressing the ACL and 50 per cent of these are about surgical treatment. However, none of these studies have shown that surgical reconstruction produces better results than rehabilitation alone,” said Stefan Lohmander, professor at Lund University and Skåne University Hospital.
Sportsmen and sportswomen, however, cannot rely on rehab alone and almost always undergo surgical intervention in order to save their careers.

Which is Better: Allograft or Autograft?

Autograft or use of own tissue for reconstruction of the torn ligament has been found out to perform better in the long run. This fact was reported by the Fox News in a story “Study: Autograft ACL Repair Better in Young Athletes,” published on May, 2012.
Allograft, on the other hand, employs a donated tissue from a cadaver for ACL repair. While, absence of discomfort of removing one’s own tissue is an advantage, an allograft is fraught with risks, such as, HIV or bacterial infections or the graft losing its tension over a period of time. Failure rates of allografts fall in the range of 23% to 34%.

Medical Travel – Does it Make Sense?

A lot of people wait a lot longer before ACL repair through surgery becomes an absolute necessity. Waiting longer translates into cost of alternative treatments. If you wish to maintain an active lifestyle, ACL repair surgery is better done sooner. But for majority of Americans cost of ACL repair remains off limits.
This high cost is prompting them to travel overseas to India, Mexico, or Costa Rica. Medical tourism is a win-win for both the medical tourist and the local economy. While the former saves a fortune and satisfies his wanderlust, the latter generates a lot more jobs.

Getting Around Bangkok
Bangkok is a large, bustling city. When you travel to Bangkok as a dental tourist, it is advisable to find a hotel within a short distance of your clinic. Choosing the Right Weight Loss Surgeon in Cancun

If you are more than 100 pounds overweight and have decided that weight loss surgery is right for you then you may have already decided to travel overseas for the procedure. Going to places like Cancun for weight loss surgery can save you thousands of dollars, but if you don’t choose the right clinic and doctor, then you could wind up spending a lot more money on further healthcare down the line. Don’t worry, though; it is possible to find a qualified and experienced weight loss surgeon in Cancun.

The first step in planning your trip to Cancun for weight loss surgery is to pick the right weight loss surgeon. With so many doctors and clinics in Cancun, how do you pick the one that is right for you? Here are some tips:

Decide what’s important to you. Do you care if your surgeon is fluent in English? Is he/she experienced in the kind of weight loss surgery you want to get? Do you care where in Cancun the surgeon’s clinic or hospital is located? Is it important to you where your surgeon went to medical school? Make a short list of the qualities you would most like your weight loss surgeon to possess.

Do your homework. With just a simple web search, you will find dozens of weight loss surgeons in Cancun. Using your list of preferences, make a list of potential surgeons in Cancun that can conduct your weight loss surgery. This may seem like a lot of work, but it’s worth it to ensure that you get quality care.

Find references. When you are choosing a weight loss surgeon in Cancun, it is a great idea to find people who have been treated by the surgeon. Listen to firsthand accounts of how the doctor was and the overall experience at the clinic. People who have already been there and done that will give you valuable insight beyond the doctor’s resume.

Try to speak to the surgeon. This may not always be possible, but before you travel to Cancun, Mexico for weight loss surgery, try to have a phone call with the surgeon you have chosen. Don’t be afraid to ask him/her questions that help you get to know the surgeon’s personality and ability. You are essentially going to hire this doctor to perform a service, and you have every right to know all the information pertinent to your treatment.

Don’t feel locked in. Your health should always be your number one priority. If you follow all of the aforementioned steps and are uncomfortable with a particular bariatric surgeon, then you do not have to choose him.

These are some tips to help you zero in on the right weight loss surgeon in Cancun.

Hip Replacement in Tijuana – A Viable Option for Americans

If you have consulted a doctor and decided that hip replacement might be for you, then you may have realized that getting the procedure done in the United States can be quite expensive. One way to save thousands of dollars is to turn south of the border in Tijuana just like many other Americans do.

Planning Your Hip Replacement in Tijuana
Hip replacement surgery is done either with a traditional or minimally-invasive incision. In the traditional method, you will be given general anesthesia during the procedure, whereas you will most likely have local anesthesia during minimally-invasive hip replacement surgery. You can find both the options for hip replacement surgery easily in Tijuana.

When you get hip replacement surgery in Tijuana or anywhere else, it is important to find an experienced surgeon. Finding a hip replacement surgeon in Tijuana with ample experience is not difficult, so don’t settle for less. Find out how many surgeries a year the hip surgeon performs. If possible, try to hear testimonials from past clients to understand their experience with the hip replacement surgeon in Tijuana that you choose.

Benefits of Hip Replacement Surgery in Tijuana
The number one reason that people travel to Tijuana, Mexico for hip replacement surgery is to save money. By traveling across the border, one can save 40-65% of the total price of hip replacement surgery. For Americans, Tijuana is almost a natural choice for hip replacement surgery.

Location makes it easy to get to Tijuana, but more than that, many Americans are familiar with the Mexican culture in general. It is much easier to go to a familiar destination for hip replacement surgery than to have an altogether new experience. Further, because of the number of Americans that travel to Tijuana, it may be easy to forget you are even in a foreign country!

Many of the clinics that offer hip replacement in Tijuana cater to Americans and other international clients. These hospitals and clinics ensure that everything is up to international standards and strive to make the experience as comfortable as possible for their clients. Being around other Americans while getting a hip replacement surgery in Tijuana can also be comforting.

How to Get to Tijuana for Hip Replacement Surgery
Many people from the USA travel to Tijuana for medical tourism. Many of those tourists cross the border from San Diego, which is roughly 18 miles from Tijuana. American citizens do not need a passport, but will need to carry certain documents including a state issued identification card. You will have to present your documents and identification card at the border control.

If you are traveling to Tijuana for hip surgery from any other city, the easiest way to get there is by flight. You can get a flight to the airport in Tijuana from many cities throughout the United States, Canada, and elsewhere in the world.

Snap on Dentures – What are they?

You probably already know that dentures are a common solution for missing teeth, but have you ever heard of snap on dentures? If you have, then you perhaps must have also heard that snap on dentures in Costa Rica, Mexico and many other dental tourism destinations cost only a fraction of the American prices.

If you haven’t heard of snap on dentures, then you’re at the right place. Snap on dentures make it possible to have the best of both worlds - you won’t have to worry about any social embarrassment that may come with regular dentures, but unlike implants, you will still be able to remove them. Traditional dentures can slip out at untimely moments, and in rare instances can cause harm.

How Do Snap-On Dentures Work?

Regular dentures, which rest on the gums, are usually removable. They are typically for people who do not have enough jaw bone to support implants. Snap-on dentures, however, are for people who have enough bone in the jaw to facilitate osseo-integration. Snap-on dentures are overdentures which attach to implants drilled into the jawbone. As the name suggests, snap-on dentures can be snapped on and off quite easily.

If you decide to get snap-on dentures, you will have to decide between two types: bar-retained dentures and ball-retained dentures. In bar-retained dentures, the dentist will place a thin metal bar around the curve of your jawbone and attach it to some of the implants. Clips will help secure the denture in place.

In ball-retained dentures, the implants and the denture fit together like a ball and socket. Usually, the end of the implant has a ball on top and fits into the socket which is in the denture. If you already wear dentures, you can switch to snap-on dentures quite easily. In some cases, your dentist may even be able to make your current dentures into snap-on dentures by adding the “snaps”.

Cost of Snap-On Dentures

The price of snap-on dentures may vary depending on how many implants are used and the dentist you visit, but if you are in the United States, you can expect to pay around $5,000 for the implants and another $1,000 for the dentures. If you go to a dental clinic abroad the cost may be considerably cheaper.

Recovery Time

Snap-on dentures require a minor surgery to place the implants into the jawbone. You should expect that it will take a few weeks to fully recover from the procedure. You may have to avoid certain foods in the initial days after you get your snap-on dentures, but soon you will be able to eat and drink like normal.
